About Broads Boat Sales

Broads Boat Sales was founded in 2007, initially trading from Sutton Staithe Boat Yard (whom we still work with) to provide a quality and fair brokerage service to the Norfolk Broads. In those few years, we've grown to become the premier independent brokerage with a reputation for honesty and professionalism.

Our sole aim is to provide a professional, easy way to buy and sell boats on the Norfolk Broads - something we're passionate about. We're not a franchise or a national business so can focus on delivering the best service to those on the Broads. Moreover, our adverts receive over 1,000 views a day - so we're also one of the biggest Internet boat brokers in Norfolk too!

We have excellent working partnerships with the major boat yards and marinas and work with, and in, the interests of the boating community. We firmly believe that by working with the boat yards that support the Broads, we can deliver the best possible service for everyone.

Whether you're new to the Broads, or have been enjoying its 155 miles of waterways for decades, buying and selling your boat couldn't be easier with Broads Boat Sales.

Buying from a broker

When you buy from a broker, you get a level of protection not afforded to you privately. The deal is legally binding and potential problems can be rectified through the broker, rather than dealing with the seller direct. We ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and perform checks to ensure the boat has no outstanding finance. We are more than happy to arrange a condition report or full marine survey for your peace of mind, and can help secure a mooring berth and insurance for you. We don't close the doors on completion either. If you have a question or problem after the sale, we are more than happy to help you. In fact we love to hear from happy customers and the enjoyment they're having with their new boat!

With a private sale, you are on your own and don't have this level of protection that we can offer. When buying from a dealer (as opposed to a broker), it must be borne in mind that they are driven by large overheads and the more unscrupulous will often 'tart up' a boat or promise the earth in order to complete a sale. We have seen this time and again. We trade on reputation and adhere to strict codes of conduct to ensure every stage of the process is transparent and fair.

We don't make you sign up to view a boat's details or 'throw you the keys' when you want to view and let you get on with it. And we won't abandon you once you've bought from us either - we're more than happy to help with any questions you have after the sale too.

Selling with a broker

Selling privately incurs all sorts of additional risks and loop holes that a broker such as Broads Boat Sales has the experience and expertise to deal with. From determining a fair value of your boat to tying up all the paperwork, we have a bullet proof system to ensure every aspect of the sale is covered legally. Moreover, you don't have to face the buyer direct and will often attain a better price through a broker who is working on your behalf. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, you won't be bothered by time wasters and those who don't show up for a viewing - just let us deal with that. We always perform fully-accompanied viewings to ensure your boat's safety and will always call ahead to warn you of a viewing in case you are using the boat. Yup, that's right: you can still use your boat while it's on our books.

We operate a no sale, no fee system. Our commission rate is based on the boat's value and how long we think it'll take to sell. We think this is fairer than stipulating a flat rate of commission for all boats, regardless of price. Simple.

Do check with your boat yard or marina that they are happy for Broads Boat Sales to sell from their berths. As mentioned perviously, we have good relationships with most of the boat yards on the Broads and do a lot of business with them but a few do stipulate you must use their boat sales services only. In this case, we are more than happy to arrange for your boat to be moved to one of our affiliated boat yards for sale. If you are unsure, just give us a call and we'd be only too happy to advise.
